We woke to another day of motorcycle sailing (gusts to 80kph) 6 degrees C & heavy rain until noon. Peter & I had every layer of clothing on that was available & we were not comfortable. What is going to happen when we head for the Arctic? The wind was so strong we filled up after 209 kms!
By now we could clearly see the foothills. The kind of reminded me of gaggle of ice bergs sailing on the horizon. Cool stuff! We were also definitely in Blackfoot country. At times I swore I could see pioneers, buffalo & Native Americans roaming the countryside.
Our plan was to cross Maria's Pass & Logan's Pass near Browning MN. However, we discovered that both we closed due to snow & high winds. We weren't surprised.
So decided to enter Canada via Waterton Glacier/International Peace Park. The sun Gods finally shined on us. The road twisted back & forth over the mountain. Attack, attack, attack. The sweet sound of V-Stroms filled the air.
From time to time we couldn't resist stopping to take pictures of the snow covered mountains & vistas. Man oh man what a beautiful country we live in. The fun ride over the mountain ended in a conversation with a really nice Canadian Customs guy. (no searches, again!)
Pincher Creek AB was our destination, but a cyclist recommended we take a side trip through Waterton Park. We toured around the valley roads in park for about an hour. Breathtaking! When we left the park we saw our first brown bear @ the side of the road. The little guy took one look @ me & headed into the woods. Hey, I shaved this morning.
Finally, we arrived @ Pincher somewhat exhaust in spite of the short day. I guess the combination of the previous long day & the demanding morning winds had taken it's toll.
